keeping busy is entertaining. patrick and i finished scripts for the first three issues of our upcoming comic book series Absolution. we’re having such fun that we’ve begun outlining scripts for a separate series we’re calling The Black Meat, which is something completely different. Noah Sheets, the artist behind Absolution, is cranking out character designs and working on laying out the first issue, which is tremendously exciting. i’ve included one of his early sketches of one of our characters to the right here, i can’t wait to see a finished issue, it keeps me up at night.
Showbread is also keeping busy. we churned out 10 new demos in the last few weeks, now i’m trying to slow it down to one new demo a week. one of my favorite new songs right now is “A Man With A Hammer” or maybe “The Prison Comes Undone.” i’m not exaggerating when i say this is by far the biggest change in Showbread’s musical history… in a very, very good way. garrett arrives in georgia after Easter, making the wonderful city of guyton his new home. from there we set to work with weekly rehearsals/writing sessions and bible studies which we’ll be inviting the world to via our stickam page. we’ll also have a pretty big and exciting Showbread announcement coming next week.
in the midst of all this i keep chugging along on The Joke That We Play On The World, which mostly writes itself. it’s a matter of wrangling a torrential outburst of thoughts and memories into submission and getting them on the page. combing through old pictures has been quite funny. i also try to put some daily effort toward a screenplay that’s slowly coming along.
lots of things on the horizon.
