work continues. Showbread has 14 new songs completed at this point with a fifteenth underway. i’m pretty excited about a song called “You’re Like A Taxi”. weekly rehearsals/writing sessions/bible studies are very productive. looking forward to attempting a few new songs at upcoming summer festivals. we’ve made the first small steps down the long road to funding the album, whether or not any of these songs will wind up on the new record is yet to be seen. for now we’re enjoying writing songs to write songs instead of writing songs to write an album. i talked to sylvia, she is excited to have us back in the studio this fall. patrick and i finished the final draft of issue one of The Black Meat and we’ve already gotten some early art back from Elizabeth Jancewicz (pictured), who is the artist on board. very exciting stuff, can’t wait for it to be done. our other comic Absolution is moving along slowly (but surely, we hope) as noah sheets has time to take on the art. it is also going to be really quite good. trust me.
i continue making my way through my own dvd library as well. most recently the random number generator has selected #22 of 287: Carrie, a tense horror classic based on Stephen King’s debut novel followed by #252 of 287: The Great Muppet Caper, which is arguably the funniest Muppet movie fueled by humor in vein of Young Frankenstein and Airplane and finally #236 of 287: American History X, a compelling neo-nazi drama with a buff Edward Norton.
